Healthy Children
Creating Healthy Places for Healthy Kids
Attention all teachers, day-care providers, educators, preschool directors, coaches, or anyone working with children! October is Children’s Health Month!
SCARCE coordinates a program in which you will learn why children are more susceptible to environmental pollutants in indoor environments, especially schools and childcare facilities. You will learn to recognize potential sources of environmental exposures in schools, such as improper use of chemicals in science and art classes and the maintenance/cleaning of facilities. You will also gain an understanding of issues related to poor indoor air quality, pest control, environmental asthma triggers, radon and mold. Additionally, presenters will provide low-cost/no cost measures as well as programs and resources available to prevent or reduce environmental exposures.
