Glen Crest Middle School Students Show Gratitude by Upcycling

Students at Glen Crest Middle School in Glen Ellyn (Community Consolidated School District 89) wanted to show their thanks to SCARCE for the supplies their teachers have gotten from our rescue to use in the classroom. They decided to get creative with upcycled materials. The students made posters to put up around school asking their peers to bring in unwanted t-shirts. They transformed the shirts they got into reusable bags by clipping off the sleeves and sewing the bottom together. A teacher brought the shirts in to SCARCE as a gift. Awesome creativity and upcycling Glen Crest Middle School! And thanks for showing us your appreciation!

Elsie Johnson Environmental Club Takes Action for the Earth

The twenty 3rd-5th grade students in the environmental club at Elsie Johnson Elementary School in Hanover Park (Community Consolidated School District 93) have had a busy year so far! They’ve written letters to the village president to encourage composting village-wide, they’ve collected and peeled crayons for SCARCE’s Super Crayon project, and painted pots to grow flowering plants that will help our local pollinators. Way to take action for a healthy planet!
