Thanks to the Future Energy Jobs Act passed in 2016, new incentives are available for Illinois residents to install solar panels, making it one of the best times to go solar.

Solar Incentives for Homeowners

Through Illinois Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SREC) and federal solar tax credits, residents installing solar arrays are eligible for up to a 70% offset of the total costs. Given the big discount, the average payback for a system is down to 3-5 years with savings from there on out for the average 25 year lifespan of a system.

The federal tax credits are currently set to decrease over the next several years so now is your chance to combine both state and federal incentives to get the best deal. In addition to being a source or renewable, fossil-fuel free energy, solar panels can also add value to your home when it is time to sell.

SCARCE recently partnered with a locally owned and operated solar installer to provide educational support for schools. Learn more about solar for schools here. They also work on residential projects and are happy to provide information on the solar opportunity on your roof.
