2019 Sustainable Design Challenge

Join SCARCE and DuPage County Stormwater Management for the 13th Annual Sustainable Design Challenge.
This event is a free program that challenges high school students to design a building model of their choice with the latest in sustainable features. Similar to a science fair, students present their project to professionals from environmental design fields and compete for top scores and cash prizes in three areas: Best Overall LEED Design ($500), Best Stormwater Management Design ($250), and Best Energy Efficiency Design ($250).
Projects will be on display and open to the public from 9am-11am.

The Challenge
Who: Up to 10 teams of students from each high school in DuPage County are invited to tackle this challenge.
Goal: Design and construct a model of a sustainable building in a bid for cash prizes.
Cost: Participation is free and lunch is provided.
The day of the event, students will have the opportunity to:
- Present their project to the public & a panel of judges
- Tour the DuPage County campus to learn about sustainable design and infrastructure
- Explore sustainability careers through interaction with professionals in the field
