Holiday Cooking Oil Collection Sites Save Our Sewers

Cooking oil can wreak havoc on your plumbing, our sewer system, and local waterways. That’s why local communities make the effort to provide extra cooking oil recycling options for their residents the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year, ten locations were available for residents to responsibly dispose of their cooking oil. A total of over 276 gallons of cooking oil was collected. Thank you to Downers Grove Sanitary District, Glenbard Sanitary District, Wheaton Sanitary District, Naperville Regional Household Hazardous Waste Facility, Elmhurst Public Works, and the Villages of Itasca, Roselle, and Villa Park.
