What will you do with your pumpkin after Halloween? Don’t let it rot in landfill. Bring your jack-o-lantern to the annual Pumpkin Smash to be composted – nature’s method of recycling. Participating locations can  be found throughout Illinois and across the country.  It’s going to be a smashing time!

Come smash your pumpkin or simply drop it off and we’ll do it for you.  By composting your pumpkin, you are keeping waste out of landfills, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and creating a natural fertilizer for our soils.

Accepted items

Plain, clean pumpkins of any size will be accepted, as well as pumpkins painted with acrylic paint. Any pumpkin decorations such as candles, yarn, stickers or other decorations should be removed prior to drop-off. 

Coronavirus Safety Precautions:  All attendees must wear masks and practice social distancing. This event is held outdoors.
