Food Scrap Composting at the Curb: Tour & Workshop for Community Leaders

October 11 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm CDT

| Free

This is a free program for DuPage County community leaders including municipal staff, elected leaders, committee members, and concerned citizens. Register today!

Residents are increasingly looking to their municipality to provide expanded recycling programs and support sustainable initiatives. Be ready to meet the demand with a curbside food scrap composting program!  Join the seven communities in DuPage County already offering their residents this important expansion of their yard waste collection program.

Join SCARCE for this FREE workshop to learn how to implement a successful food scrap composting program. We will go on a tour of Waste Management’s Willow Ranch Compost Facility so you can see in person how food scrap composting works and understand the benefits and challenges. You will learn about:

  • the benefits of composting food scraps
  • how to get a curbside food scrap composting program started in your community
  • how to ensure the success of your program
  • the benefits of using compost in landscape projects

Already have a composting program but not sure how to answer residents questions about composting? Please join us!

Light morning refreshments provided. Please bring a travel mug and reusable water bottle.

Register today! Limited to 30 participants.

Please note: This workshop will start and end at SCARCE. We will board a coach bus to the compost facility. All participants are expected to ride the bus. We will be outside for portions of this program -please dress accordingly.

This program was made possible by the DuPage Foundation.
