Clarendon Hills Recycling Extravaganza at Walker Elementary

It’s time for spring cleaning! Bring recyclables to the drive-through Clarendon Hills Recycling Extravaganza at Walker Elementary School. If you have any questions, please contact: 415-314-8024.

Event Procedures:

Please do not park your car.
Drive up to each station and stop your car A volunteer will help you remove items from your car.
Continue driving to each station as needed. When done, slowly drive out of the U-shaped parking lot.

Accepted Items for Recycling:

Station 1 – On-site Document Shredding

Station 2 – Non-working markers and pens, household batteries for recycling

Station 3 – New and gently used shoes (All types! Cleats, boots, sandals, gym shoes, etc.)

Station 4 – Working Bikes 

  • Adult bikes in repairable condition
  • Gently used kid bikes
  • Bike parts
  • Bike accessories (e.g. helmet, lock, etc.)

Station 5 – SCARCE

  • Books (any & all)
  • Records (Vinyl, LP, 45’s, etc.)
  • Musical Instruments
  • Keys (car keys & house keys)
  • Crayons
  • Holiday lights (working & non-working)
  • Cords and wires
  • Eyeglasses & sunglasses (no cases)
  • Hearing aids
  • 35mm film canisters
  • Canon and HP inkjet cartridges (no toner cartridges. Toner can be dropped off at station 2)
  • Plastic bread tags (no twist ties)
  • X-ray, MRI, and lithographic film
  • Musical instruments

Station 6 – Project Cure

  • Medical equipment (e.g. wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, stethoscopes, monitors of all types, nebulizers, etc.)

Station 7 – Earth Paint 

  • Latex and oil-based paints for recycling (fee applies)

$1.49 per quart • $3.99 per gallon &
$14.99 per 5 gallons

$5.99 per quart • $9.99 per gallon
$24.99 per 5 gallons

  • Small butane containers/camping fuel, Propane tanks, Helium tanks, Butane and isobutane.
  • Grout, adhesives, joint compound and spackle.
  • Any type of aerosol cans accepted at no charge.

The following items will NOT be accepted:

  • No household chemicals, light bulbs, cooking oil, electronics, or smoke detectors
  • No laptop bags or used backpacks
  • No handmade teaching tools (cutouts, flashcards, posters, games, etc.)
  • No copies/xeroxed papers or worksheets
  • No magazines
  • No binders
  • No hanging file folders
  • No base 10 blocks or adding machines
  • No furniture, clothing, stuffed animals
  • No housewares
  • No CDs, DVDs VHS tapes. or cassette tapes
  • No plastic bins or milk crates
