Downers Grove Sanitary District Awarded Earth Flag

Congratulation to the Downers Grove Sanitary District on earning an Earth Flag from SCARCE and DuPage County! DGSD has taken many steps to be earth conscious, in particular when it comes to energy. They’ve made many energy efficiency upgrades and also use biosolids produced onsite as well as cooking oil collected from the community to produce their own energy. Each year they go several months as a net-zero facility, meaning they produce as much energy as they use. They also regularly open their doors to educate the community including at their annual open house each fall. Well done!
