SCARCE is looking for an organized and creative volunteer who would like to take a leadership role in our Super Crayon Project. SCARCE’s Super Crayon Project has diverted thousands of broken, unusable crayons from the landfill by recycling them into new Super Crayons.

Making Super Crayons involves melting, pouring, and trimming crayons. The entire process usually takes 3-4 hours — which includes plenty of time to be creative! In addition to making crayons, the Crayon Captain will oversee the crayon production space.

Ideally, the volunteer would make Super Crayons each week to replenish our stock. The Crayon Captain can also assist volunteer groups who make crayons during the school year. Groups typically come to SCARCE between 3pm-6pm on Tuesdays and between 9am and noon on Saturday mornings.

SCARCE is looking for someone at least 16 years of age who can commit to helping on a regular basis for a minimum of 3 months. We would love to have you on our team, so contact Rose Naseef at [email protected]  or call 630-545-9710 and let us know you want to be a Crayon Captain!
