The Back-to-School Fair is a one-stop event for health and social services to help low-income DuPage County families with children get off to a good start for the new school year.

Each year SCARCE bring thousands of books to give out to children at the event and we need your help to make it happen! Though many of us take books for granted, many struggling families in our area can’t afford to get books for their children. Simply growing up in a home with enough books provides a big boost to long-term reading and math skills.  Volunteers are needed to help set-up, organize, tear down and staff our book tables at this event. Your efforts will help thousands of children take steps towards lifelong success!

Our volunteers superbly organized our book tables – making it all the easier to help children find the books they would like to take home.

The 2019 DuPage County Back-to-School Fair is being held on Wednesday, August 7th at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton.

We need volunteers on the following days:

  • Tuesday, August 6th, 2019 – load/unload and set-up (must be able to lift heavy boxes). Approximately 9am-3pm. Ages 14+.
  • Wednesday, August 7th, 2019 – help children choose books, tear down, load/unload at SCARCE. Approximately 11am-6pm. Ages 18+.

Volunteers must be comfortable on their feet. For set-up and tear down, volunteers must be able to lift. Bilingual volunteers are a big help during the event!

If interested, please sign up for at least one 2-hour shift using the form below.  Together, we can help underprivileged DuPage County students get ready for school!
