New Terracycle Collection: Personal Care & Beauty Packaging

We now accept EMPTY skin care, hair care, and cosmetic packaging from any brand as part of a new Terracycle recycling brigade. Read a full list of accepted items below.  Check out examples of acceptable waste in the image above.

All items must be empty and dry before bringing to SCARCE. Items need not be washed, a simple shake out, swipe with a cloth or squeeze to remove excess product should do the trick.

Program accepted waste:

• Skin care packaging: lip balm tubes and caps, soap dispensers and tubes, body wash caps, lotion dispensers and caps. 
• Hair care packaging: shampoo caps, conditioner caps, hair gel tubes, and caps, hair spray triggers, and hair paste caps.
• Cosmetic packaging: lipstick cases, lip gloss tubes, mascara tubes, eye shadow cases, bronzer cases, foundation packaging, powder cases, eyeliner cases, eyeliner pencils, eye shadow tubes, concealer tubes, concealer sticks, and lip liner pencils.

This is for exterior packaging only – we cannot accept any unused product.

NOTE: Please check for local recycling solutions for #1 and #2 plastics. Most curbside recycling programs accept #1 and #2 plastic containers. You can find more option on Terracycle’s interactive map. If no recycling solution exists in your area, you can include these empties in your shipments through this program.
