United Nations World Soil Day
Held each year on December 5th, the United Nations’ World Soil Day aims to connect people with soils and raise awareness on their critical importance in our lives. Each year the UN chooses an outreach theme – stay tuned for the 2017 reveal. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to plan activities or events in celebration of our soils and the life they support.
Our soils face many threats worldwide. Take a moment today to learn about this natural resource. FAO has a wide variety of downloadable resources for World Soil Day

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Their three main goals are the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition; the elimination of poverty and the driving forward of economic and social progress for all; and, the sustainable management and utilization of natural resources, including land, water, air, climate and genetic resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
