Don’t Trash it, Smash it! Green your Halloween at this year’s annual Pumpkin Smash.

What will you do with your pumpkin after Halloween? Rather than letting it languish in a landfill, bring your jack-o-lantern to the annual Pumpkin Smash to be composted – nature’s method of recycling. Participating locations can  be found throughout Illinois.  It’s going to be a smashing time!

Come smash your pumpkin or simply drop it off and have us do it for you.  By composting your pumpkin, you are keeping waste out of landfills, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and creating a natural fertilizer for our soils. 

Note: Remove candles and decorations (stickers, yarn, googly eyes, etc) before dropping off. Pumpkins are only accepted from 9am-12pm on November 3rd unless otherwise noted.

Get Involved!

Be a part of the most smashing event of the year! Get your school, organization, or town involved! Volunteer smashers are needed at a number of events. A fun project for high school students (or older) needing volunteer hours.

Most Pumpkin Smash locations will collect pumpkins from 9am-12pm on Saturday, Nov 3rd but there are some exceptions. Hours and dates are specified under each location.
