Institute Day Workshop – Open to teachers from DuPage County schools only.
Earn Professional Development credits
Submerge yourself for a day in the dynamic world of water management in DuPage County! Witness STEM in action through 3 site visits where we learn from experts-on-the-job. Then follow it up with hands-on training on classroom tools from SCARCE staff.
First stop, the DuPage Water Commission to learn the complex route water takes to reach our taps. Next we head to the Elmhurst Quarry to learn from DuPage County engineers how they manage stormwater to prevent local flooding. Then on to the Urban Stream Research Center where aquatic species recovery takes place.
Teachers will try out SCARCE’s award-winning Enviroscape watershed models and learn how to reserve them for use in their classrooms.
Recommended for any grade level.
