Open to teachers from DuPage County schools only. Restricted to US Citizens due to site visit requirements.

Join us for a free experiential learning class on DuPage County’s Institute Day. Explore buildings on the cutting edge of energy efficient design around DuPage County. Witness STEM in action through site visits where we learn from experts-on-the-job. Then follow it up with an intro to solar for schools and a hands-on training on the Energy Bike, a learning tool that makes energy tangible.
2020 Site Visits:
- Argonne LEED Gold Energy Sciences Building – Learn about energy efficient building and campus features and energy research taking place.
- Downers Grove Sanitary Treatment Center – Learn how the facility utilizes on-site energy production and conservation to operate as net-zero facility 6 months or more of each year.
- Passive Home – Learn more about this extremely energy-efficient method of home construction.
Recommended for any grade level.
Participants tour a local Passive House.
Things to know:
- State ID is required to be on hand during the tours.
- We will be riding a coach bus together to each site. All participants must ride the bus to earn credit for this course. Required contact-time is fulfilled during transit.
- Pack a zero-waste lunch – you will eat on the bus.
- Dress for the weather, we will be outside for portions of the class.
