Global Wind Day is a worldwide event that occurs annually on 15th of June. It is a day for discovering wind, its power and the possibilities it holds to reshape our energy systems, decarbonise our economies and boost jobs and growth.

Some fun facts about wind energy:

  • Wind energy has been in use since 2000BC. The first modern turbine was built in the 1940s
  • Wind turbine blades can reach speeds of over 200 mph at the tip
  • 1MW of wind energy can offset 2,600 tons of CO2
  • The US generates more wind energy than any other county
