Earth Overshoot Day

August 2, 2017

This year, August 2nd marks the date that we, as a global community, have used all of the natural resources the planet can regenerate in a year AND have emitted more CO2 into the atmosphere than forests can sequester. For the remaining 156 days left in 2017, we will be operating in a resource deficit. Earth Overshoot Day aims to raise awareness and spark action and change within communities to reduce their ecological footprint.

What can you, your classroom, neighborhood, or municipality do to #movethedate back and create a more sustainable society?

#movethedate

Earth Overshoot Day Provides great resources to teachers and learners alike on what an ecological footprint is, what it means for the sustainability of our planet, and how to calculate it.
