Do you or someone you know deserve recognition for your environmental efforts in schools or education? Check out these national awards from the US EPA:
- The Presidential Environmental Youth Awards (PEYA) recognizes outstanding environmental projects by K-12 youth that promote environmental awareness and encourage community involvement. Winners are invited to participate in an awards ceremony and poster session in Washington, D.C. and projects will be highlighted on EPA’s website. View application and eligibility information
- The Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators recognizes outstanding kindergarten through grade 12 teachers who employ innovative approaches to environmental education and use the environment as a context for learning for their students. Teachers will receive a Presidential plaque and an awards of up to $2,500 will be provided to the teacher and their local education agency to fund further environmental education development and programming. Winners will be invited to participate in an awards ceremony and poster session in Washington, D.C. and their projects will also be highlighted on EPA’s website. Established by the 1990 National Environmental Education Act (NEEA), PEYA recognizes outstanding environmental stewardship projects from Kindergarten to 12th grade, by promoting environmental awareness and encouraging community involvement. Also established by the 1990 National Environmental Education Act, PIAEE recognizes outstanding K-12 grade educators who integrate environmental and place-based, experiential learning into school curricula and school facility management across the country.
