Join SCARCE and DuPage County Stormwater Management for the 12th Annual Sustainable Design Challenge. This event challenges high school students to design a building model of their choice with the latest in sustainable features. Similar to a science fair, students present their project to professionals from environmental design fields and compete for top scores in three areas: Best Overall LEED Design, Best Stormwater Management Design, and Best Energy Efficiency Design.
Projects will be on display and open to the public from 9am-11am.
The Challenge
Who: Up to 10 teams of students from each high school in DuPage County are invited to tackle this challenge.
Goal: Design and construct a model of a building that meets LEED criteria for sustainable buildings in a bid for cash prizes.
The day of the event, students will have the opportunity to:
- Present their project to the public & a panel of judges
- Tour the DuPage County campus to learn about sustainable design and infrastructure
- Explore sustainability careers through interaction with professionals in the field
Please note: The registration deadline has been extended to Friday, April 6th. Submissions will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
