Are you looking to mulch a live Christmas tree or recycle holiday lights? Scroll down to see the options available for DuPage County community members.

Christmas Tree

Get it mulched by placing it at your curb for pickup. If curbside service isn’t available where you live, see below for additional options in DuPage County. Remove all ornaments, decorations, and string lights. Do not bag the tree. NO artificial trees can be accepted.

Holiday Lights

‘Tis the season of holiday light recycling programs! Bring any type of holiday string lights, including LEDs, Italian mini-lights, and rope lights – working or not – to one of the locations below for recycling. Holiday lights should not be in bags or boxes. Only holiday lights are accepted. Garland, wreaths, outdoor display pieces containing lights, ornaments, lawn decorations, or other holiday decorations will not be accepted. Learn more about how lights are recycled here.

Tip: If you need to replace lights, opt for energy efficient LED strands or ENERGY STAR certified lights – and consider using a timer so they only shine when you can see them.

Most holiday light collection bins are indoors and only available for drop-off during business hours, which may be different during the holidays. Don’t see your town? Check with your local government for additional locations or bring them to SCARCE. We take lights year-round!
